Police introduce Denton dispersal order after rise in anti-social behaviour

A dispersal order in Denton gives police powers to direct people to leave a designated area until 12.31am on Monday 2 November.

The zone covers Victoria Park and Jubilee Square, with Manchester Road, Ashton Road, Cooke Street and Acre Street marking its boundaries.

Greater Manchester Police introduced the order following an increase in anti-social behaviour around the park and square in the Tameside town.

Under section 34, officers can tell anyone involved in anti-social behaviour, or suspected of involvement, to leave the zone for a set period.

The force said the measure aims to reduce behaviour contributing, or likely to contribute, to anti-social behaviour, crime or disorder. Officers will patrol the area over the weekend.
