Manchester City draw 1-1 with PSG for third Champions League stalemate
Shaw's late penalty was cancelled out by Gilbert as Manchester City drew with PSG, leaving them unbeaten but still chasing knockout qualification.
Manchester City were held 1-1 by Paris St-Germain at the Joie Stadium on Thursday 29 October, their third successive draw in the Women’s Champions League.
Shaw put City ahead from the penalty spot in the final 10 minutes, but Gilbert quickly equalised on the break. City remain unbeaten, with three points from three league-phase matches, but still have work to do to reach the knockout stages.
City created the better first-half openings. Shaw shot wide from outside the box, while headers from set-pieces also missed the target.
After the interval, PSG captain Sakina Karchaoui sent a free-kick just over the bar. Goalkeeper Oliwia Peda then turned a Shaw effort behind, before the City forward headed a cross wide.
Jeglertz said he believed City had already faced the three toughest opponents in their six-match draw. He said: “Now, we have three games that we have the opportunity, again, to get the points we need to qualify for the next round. That’s our goal. Nothing has changed.”
