Three Metrolink lines closed for Manchester United match as £2 shuttles run
Altrincham, Trafford Park and Eccles trams are suspended for Sunday's match, with £2 shuttle buses from Altrincham and Piccadilly Gardens.
Manchester United supporters travelling to Old Trafford on Sunday 25 October face three Metrolink line closures, with dedicated shuttle buses costing £2 each way. The Bournemouth match kicks off at 2pm.
The Bee Network is advising fans to leave an hour earlier than usual. The closures are expected to cause severe delays and extra traffic around the ground.
Lines closed until November
Engineering work has suspended services on the Altrincham, Trafford Park and Eccles lines. The closures began on Monday 19 October, with reopening scheduled for Sunday 1 November.
Airport and East Didsbury services are also reduced. Neither line has through trams to Manchester city centre.
Alternative travel arrangements include replacement buses, regular Bee Network buses, acceptance of tickets on selected rail services and dedicated football shuttles.
Shuttle times and return stops
From Altrincham Interchange, shuttles leave Stand D every 20 minutes between 10am and noon on Sunday 25 October. They call at Navigation Road, De Quincey Road and Stanley Mount.
Departures then increase to every five minutes, with the final bus leaving at 12.30pm. After the match, buses back to Altrincham leave Chester Road outside Tesco.
City-centre shuttles depart from Stand G at Piccadilly Gardens from 10am. They initially run every 20 minutes, increasing to every five minutes before the last departure at 1.25pm.
For the return trip to the city centre, supporters can board on Chester Road outside the Ford Garage or on Wharfside Way beside the E2 car park.
Single shuttle fares are £2. Transport bosses say buses will operate on a ‘load and go basis’.
